Tame Impala makes music unlike anyone else’s, which is why it fits in the alternative genre so perfectly. This music is truly alternative, and Currents is a masterpiece unlike anything else.
The record opens with “Let It Happen”, and it defines lonerism. The 7 minute track is about hurt, heartbreak and despair. The repetitive beat towards the end of the song symbolizes the repetitive notion of sadness. It just keeps coming back, there is no escape from the sadness in your soul.
The fourth track on the album, titled “Yes I’m Changing” is a very vulnerable track that allows frontman Kevin Parker to expose his troubles and translate them into incredible sounds. Tame Impala uses many sound effects to create music unlike anything else out there.
“The Less I Know The Better” has a disco rock beat, accompanied by Parker’s distinguishable vocals. This fan favorite is as successful as it is because of the raw breakup lyrics and the head-bobbing beat that it comes with.
This band is so unique and are so talented. Currents received rave reviews from multiple critics, and those were extremely well deserved. Tame Impala is in a league of their own.
